Funded Places

FossoPLAY offers full and blended placements in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council. We currently offer up to 30 hours per week of funded hours per child.

Below is some general information about the funded places process, however if there is anything we haven’t covered please don’t hesitate to contact directly. Our contact email can be found at the bottom of this page.

What is the ‘Early Learning & Childcare’ Entitlement?

As of August 2020 the Scottish Government will increased parents entitlement, for children aged 3-5 years, from 600hours to 1140hour. These changes will mean that, once we become an approved Partner Provided, we will be able to offer our service to all families, allowing us to work more collaboratively with partner nurseries and our parents to offer a more tailored service.

How will these funded places work?

As parents or carers you will have more flexibility to choose how you use your entitlement. You can use all your funded hours with us or share them with another setting – we call this a shared placement.

We currently offer: Full day sessions, 8:30-5:30 or half days sessions, 8:30am – 1pm and 1pm – 5:30pm.

This means you you can choose how to use your funding depending on your needs, which is great! However, we appreciate this might make the sums a little more complicated. That’s why we’re here to help and can work through whatever option you’re considering and help to liaise with your local authority to facilitate the arrangements with you.

You will be able to use your funded hours 50 weeks of the year. We generally recommend spreading them across the year, to give your child a consistent experience, however we appreciate that for some families term time only may be preferable.

What if i need or want more than 1140 hours?

If your chosen hours exceeds the 1140 hour entitlement, you can choose to cover the shortfall by paying for the additional time yourself. A list of our rates are available on our Fees and Enrolment page. Any additional hours will invoiced for and charged at our ‘Additional Hours’, hourly rate.

How does a Shared Placement work?

If you choose a shared placement, between Fossoplay and another local nursery, you can decide how much of your funding to use in each setting. It doesn’t have to be a 50:50 spit. You can choose what will work best for you based on you and your child’s needs.

You can also change your placements and arrangements at any time! However, It is worth mention that there may be a ‘notice period’ to consider with any changes. At FossoPLAY we would ask that you allow 4 weeks notice so we can make any necessary changes to our staffing etc.

Nursery meal entitlement

As part of the new arrangements children are also entitled to free hot nursery meals. We will be meeting these requirements and will be offering a full menu, via Tayside Contracts Catering. Tayside Contracts provide a range of menu option, including vegetarian and gluten free meals. We compliment this offer with our own vegetarian snack menu, using produce grown on site by the children, wherever possible. More information on our menu will be available soon.

***Please note: due to our current Covid arrangement we are not provided the above meal entitlement, with all families being asked to provide a packed lunch for their child. This is to reduce the potential spread of the virus through food preparations and service and limit cross contamination between staff and children***
